Riley County takes one from Chapman

The Riley County softball team opened its season on Friday night in Chapman. 

The Falcons beat the Fighting Irish in the first game, 10-6, before dropping the second game, 17-7.

Jordan Ummel got her first win of the year in the opener, and had a single and a triple to help her cause. Allie Martin had a two-run home run in the third inning.

Kerrigan Simons, Bri Engle and Makayla Tegtmeier had two singles each.

Emily Brummett had a single and a double and Alyssa Kulp had three singles.

Tegtmeier took the loss in the second game. Brummett was 3 for 4 at the plate and Stedman went 2 for 3.

Riley County returns to action on Tuesday at home, beginning at 4:30 pm.
