Republic County 38, Lebo 35

By Paul Harris

Republic County (20-4) hit six of its last seven free throws to push past Lebo en route to a 38-35 victory on Wednesday. The score stalled at 29-all for more than 4 minutes, as neither team could find the bottom of the net. Jessica Robertson ended the drought when she hit a free throw. Robertson also put Lebo (18-6) back up by one on a 3-pointer. It was the last score for Lebo until Scott hit a layup for the game’s final points.

Both teams pushed the action inside with Republic County’s interior duo of Miranda Cottonmyre and Devin Nutsch combining for 19 points and eight rebounds.

Cottonmyre had a game-high 13 points. Lebo’s twosome of Jennifer Hodges and Robertson had 18 points and 13 boards. Republic County shot 10 more free throws than Lebo and hit seven more throughout the contest.

The Buffaloes will face Jeff County North in the semifinals on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
