Report: Plane part found 1 mile from crash

By The Mercury

A report on the plane crash that killed to Manhattan men in April 2013 says part of the aircrafts was found more than a mile from the crash site.

Ronald Marshall, a retired Manhattan gynecologist, and Chris Gruber, development for the college of veterinary medicine at Kansas State University, died April 7, 2013, when their plane crashed in Oklahoma.

A report from the National Transportation Safety Board released this week said a fiberglass panel on the underside of the plane was found 1.4 miles from the site. It does not offer a suspected cause of the crash.

The plane, a single-engine Mooney M20J piloted by Marshall, took off from Tulsa International Airport and crashed 13 minutes later near Collinsville.
