RCPD captain to retire

Captain Hank Nelson is retiring from the Riley County Police Department.

Captain Nelson began his career with the department in January 1988 as a police officer. He will retire effective July 1 after more than 26 years of service to the citizens of Manhattan and Riley County.

A retirement reception will be held in his honor from 3 to 4:30 p.m. June 27 at the City Commission Room, 1101 Poyntz Ave.

Captain Nelson has served in every division within the department in various capacities throughout his career.

The RCPD expresses its gratitude for the diligence and dedication to the law enforcement profession exhibited throughout a career of dedicated and honorable service to citizens and RCPD employees.
