RCPD arrests 5 at DUI checkpoint

The Riley County Police Department along with the Kansas Highway Patrol conducted a sobriety checkpoint between 2 and 2:45 am August 25 in the 300 block of Bluemont Avenue.

RCPD officials said 345 stops were made, and those stops resulted in the arrests of five people. A total of 24 drivers were evaluated for impaired driving.

Officials said one citation was given for minor in consumption of alcohol, two citations were given for transporting an open container of alcohol, and one citation was given for possession of a controlled substance.
