Riley County police arrested four men Sunday and Monday in connection with multiple vehicular burglaries.

While investigating reports of the burglaries, police arrested Cole Smykle, 21, of Fort Riley and Raymond Burrus, 20, of Junction City for burglary and interference with law enforcement Sunday at 4:30 a.m. in the 700 block of Osage Street.

According to a report from Officer Matthew Droge of the Riley County Police Department, police believed the men were tied to at least 12 burglaries.

Also arrested were Damian Nicholson, 21, and Lee Wallingford, 19, both of Fort Riley. They were arrested Monday on the base but are confined in the Riley County Jail each in lieu of a $2,500 bond.

Nicholson and Wallingford were not involved in the vehicle burglaries, but police believe they were involved in Manhattan thefts, Droge said.

Droge said that the parties knew each other but are alleged to have committed the crimes separately.

Droge said stolen items were recovered by police after the arrests, but details about where they were found and how much was recovered weren’t available.

Smykle is confined in the Riley County Jail in lieu of a $6,000 bond. Burrus was released on a $6,000 bond.

Police are still investigating the crimes.
