Ralph Glendenning, 80, of Oswego, died Feb. 7, 2014, at the Mt. Vernon Missouri Veterans Home.

The family provided some of the following information.

He was born Nov. 16, 1933 in Aurora, Mo., to Frank and Edna Mae (Harlow) Glendenning.

He was married for 30 years to Barbara Richards of Bolivar, Mo., who preceded him in death. He later married Kay Price Bryant.

Ralph had a love for life and everyone in it. He spent endless hours on the Oswego Golf Course working and playing golf. He was well known for gardening and sharing with friends the bounty of the garden. Ralph was a strategist who loved playing card games. He was an avid fisherman. He also loved to read westerns and fiction. He always welcomed people to his home.

He is survived by his wife, Kay of Oswego; his daughters Michelle Beam and husband Jon of Vancouver, Wash.; Beth Tatarko and husband John of Manhattan; and Becky Crowder and husband Jay of Overland Park. He had seven grandchildren, Olivia and Marshall Beam; Peter, Anna and Sarah Tatarko; and James and Austin Crowder. He has one surviving sister, Olive (Glendenning) Thomas; and three brothers, Jack and wife Doris, George and wife Marlene, and Bud and wife Barbara. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lea (Glendenning) Phillips. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends.

He grew up in Bolivar, Mo. and graduated from Bolivar High School. He attended the University of Missouri at Columbia. Ralph had a career working for Kraft Foods as a field man and the state of Kansas as a health sanitarian.

A memorial was held Saturday at the Oswego First United Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m. Family received friends following the ceremony.
