Purple Power Play moves to City Park

By The Mercury

This year’s Purple Power Play on Poyntz will take place in City Park instead of downtown, keeping the event out of the way of construction projects happening in its usual location but ruining its signature quadruple alliteration.

The change was announced in a press release Wednesday from Purple Power Play organizers. “Beautification” along Poyntz Avenue in 2013 necessitated the move.

The event will take place Wednesday, Aug. 28, and Thursday, Aug. 29, at the park and begins at 6 p.m. both days. As usual, it’s scheduled prior to the first home K-State football game and will include live entertainment, inflatables, vendors and more, according to the release. A complete schedule will be released this summer. Vendor registration forms will be available beginning May 6.
