Price is Right Live tells locals to ‘Come on down!’

By Maura Wery

The iconic phrase “Come on down!” will fill up McCain Auditorium on Sunday.

“The Price is Right Live” is bringing its famous phrases, traditional prizes and expected excitement to a local audience.

Host Todd Newton said in a phone interview with The Mercury that those who make a point in their day to watch the show won’t want to miss the live theatrical version.

“We bring a little bit of Los Angeles to the people,” Newton said about the show.

The live show is produced by the same team as the television show, and has all the details, minus the cameras.

“There are no auditions,” Newton said. “We aren’t limited to one hour and everyone has an equal shot of being picked.”

The prizes are the same, as well — everything from exotic trips to cash to kitchen appliances are all up for grabs for those who make the closest bid.

“I get to share these moments with the contestants,” Newton said.

“When they win a prize that they really needed, that’s a gift for me.”

The show is Sunday at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are still available at the McCain box office and online. For more information call (785) 532-6428.
