Pottawatomie sheriff investigates drug report

WESTMORELAND — The Pottawatomie County Sheriff ’s Office is investigating a report that some Wamego High students were given marijuana at a school event in Salina.

According to Sheriff Greg Riat, the incident took place on March 1, and his office responded to a report from school officials.

Former Wamego resident Austin Waters, 19, was taken into custody for drug related charges after a search on March 5.

Jacob Christie, 18, Wamego, was arrested on March 7 for possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

Christie is being held at the Pottawatomie County jail on a $5,000 bond.
