Post to hold hiring fair

FORT RILEY — Job seekers in the Manhattan/Junction City region will have the opportunity to attend a fall hiring fair from 2 to 6 pm on October 22 at Riley’s Conference Center on the main post.

“This is a golden opportunity for somebody who is looking to make a face-to-face connection with an employer,” said Jeff Reade, program manager of the Employment Readiness Program.

More than 50 employers are expected to be meeting job seekers during the event, Reade said, and several will be prepared to conduct on-site interviews and possibly hire on the spot.

Big Lakes Developmental Center, Inc., Century Link, Wildcat Constructions Co., Inc., Central Power Systems and Services, Kansas Army National Guard, Travel Centers of America, LLC, TSI Kansas, Inc., and Great Plains Manufacturing are among the potential employers prepared to conduct interviews.

Reade emphasized how important preparation is in the job-seeking process and recommended that candidates research potential employers as thoroughly as possible.

“If you go there prepared and knowledgeable about the company, you immediately have a connection, and you’re making a much better first impression,” Reade said. “You never get a second chance to make a first impression.”
