Lt. Josh Kyle said the last two weekends have produced 33 reports of criminal damage to property. After six reported criminal damages to property last weekend, RCPD received 27 reports this weekend — 24 to vehicles and three to residences.
“We were already recognizing that we have a pattern of activity here,” Kyle said. “It’s just got worse.”
Kyle said there’s no clear connection between the incidents, but several areas had a rapid succession of damage. The damage was mostly done to side or back windows with shots from a BB gun or a blunt object.
These incidents occurred during various times of the day. The most frequent day was Sunday with 12 incidents during the day.
Six incidents occurred Friday; four incidents occurred between Friday and Saturday; two incidents occurred between Thursday and Friday; and one incident each occurred Saturday, between Saturday and Sunday, and between Sunday and Monday.
The streets where these incidents occurred were Osage Street (four incidents); Kearney Street and Plymouth Road (three incidents); Leavenworth Street, North 16th Street, Cedar Crest Drive and Fremont Street (two incidents); and College Avenue, College Heights Road, Woodoak Court, Dickens Avenue, Harry Road, Vattier Street, North 4th Street, Pine Drive and Pierre Street (one incident).
