Police, firefighters to go head-to-head at rib-eating contest for charity

By The Mercury

The public is invited to a rib-eating contest Monday between the Riley County Police Department and the Manhattan Fire Department at Texas Roadhouse.

The contest will begin at 5 p.m., but diners can take part in the Dine to Donate fundraiser from 4 to 10 p.m. The restaurant, at 200 Town Center, will donate 10 percent of all dinner sales to the departments’ chosen charities, the Manhattan Emergency Shelter and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The contest will consist of five members on both teams relaying to finish the most ribs first.

Officials said a police car and fire truck will be on scene for viewing and face-painting will be available for children.

The Manhattan High School cheerleaders are also set to perform.
