Plot to escape custody uncovered

By Katherine Wartell

RCPD detectives investigated an alleged plot to escape custody Thursday at the Riley County Jail.

Lt. Josh Kyle said a confidential informant called the RCPD and notified officers of a plot to escape custody, and that immediately following the call detectives conducted an investigation and began security checks.

Kyle said detectives filed an attempted escape from custody report and a carrying concealed weapons report Thursday, and indicated the reports involved the same person, but did not identify the person because no arrests were made.

Kyle said the case has been forwarded to the County Attorney’s office.
