‘Pirate’ station thwarted

By The Mercury

Federal officials have reportedly busted a pirate radio station they say had been operating from a base on Fremont Street.

Radio station KMAN reported Friday it had been told of the investigation by Ron Ramage, district director of the Federal Communications Office in Kansas City. Ramage told the radio station that the pirate station had been operating under the 88.3 frequency on the FM dial, and had been reported to the agency by local residents.

KMAN said the pirate station was rebroadcasting content described as anti-government, with mention of alleged national and global conspiracies. The investigation into the matter was reported to be ongoing.
