Pedestrian injured in accident

By The Mercury

A pedestrian was hospitalized with non-threatening injuries Thursday afternoon after he was struck by a car during a collision with another vehicle on Fort Riley Boulevard and 4th Street.

Lt. Josh Kyle said Kevin Delarosa, 28, Manhattan, had been crossing 4th Street when he was struck by a 1997 Ford Taurus driven by Barbara Bailey, 53, Manhattan.

Kyle said Bailey, driving west on Fort Riley Boulevard, struck Delarosa after Taylor Pearson, 21, Manhattan, driving a 1991 Pontiac Firebird, reportedly turned left onto 4th Street in front of her, causing the cars to collide.

Neither driver reported injuries and officers cited Pearson for failure to yield the right-of-way while making a left turn.
