Pair injured in armed robbery

Two Kansas State University students were robbed at gunpoint in their home Monday night. At 8:50 p.m., Riley County police responded to the home of Matthew Mckernan, 21, and Joshua Martin, 20, who were reportedly robbed by three men.

The two were roommates living at 1520 Jarvis Drive.

According to a press release from Officer Matthew Droge of the Riley County Police Department, Mckernan and Martin were also struck by the robbers, causing minor head injuries. They were transported to Mercy Regional Health Center, treated and released.

The robbers were described as white with “very dark” complexions. Droge said in his release that one suspect had a noticeable accent. The three got away with a small amount of cash, he said.

Police ask that anyone with information contact the RCPD at 785-537-2112. Tips may also be submitted through Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers and callers may remain anonymous and could qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
