Optimists say ‘thanks’ to all who supported Christmas Tree Lot

By Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:

The Manhattan Breakfast Optimist Club would like sincerely to thank everyone who supported the Optimist Christmas Tree Lot this past holiday season.  We had another successful year, thanks to those who purchased trees or decorations from us.

We would like especially to recognize several local businesses which made special contributions to our efforts this year.  These Tree Lot business supporters include Amherst Self Storage, McKenzie Pest Control, Mead Lumber Do-It Center, Little Apple Toyota Honda, Briggs Auto Group, Thomas Sign Company, Community First National

Bank, and the ICE Corporation.

All of the proceeds from the Tree Lot remain in the Manhattan community and benefit local area youth and community projects.  These projects include the Optimist Ball Park, which is used practically year-round by Optimist supported fast pitch softball teams, the K-State fast pitch club team and the Optimist T-Ball program.  Other youth activities supported by the funds generated from our Christmas tree sales include Kid

Wrestling, Manhattan Cross Country, the Manhattan Marlins, the Gold Orchestra, Parks and Recreation sports teams, the Ogden Friendship House, the Boys and Girls Club, 4-H Fair Fun Day, Early Expressions Kid’s Art Fair, Pawnee Mental Health Camp Stars and the MHS Pops Choir.

Thanks again for patronizing the Optimist Tree Lot this holiday season and thereby helping us to support positive activities for our local youth.
