Optimist Aftershock play in Chapman

The Manhattan Optimist 14-and-under Aftershock played in the Lady Irish Invitational this past weekend in Chapman. 

On Saturday, they faced the Fort Riley Gold Rush, winning 12-0. Michaela Hays pitched and Olivia Lee caught. Alyssa Mitoska, Alyssa Sias, Lee and Hays each singled. Alex Rogers, Ashley Faiola, Emily Brummett and Jayden Weers all had two hits apiece. Kayla Marienau hit three singles.

Next on the schedule was the Abilene Attack, as Hays picked up the win and Weers earned the save. Lee and Faiola caught.  Mitoska, Rogers, Sias and Faiola all singled. Brummet had two singles, while Weers hit two singles and a triple and Marienau had a single and a double.

The final game Saturday saw the Aftershock lose to the Salina Heat 7-2 as they could only muster four hits.  Olivia Lee hit a home run.  Weers took the loss.

On Sunday, the Aftershock lost to Clay Center 6-2 in the first game. Faiola got the loss and Lee did the catching. Faiola, Lee and Mitoska all singled. Brummett had two singles and Weers tripled. 

In the final game, the Aftershock were no-hit by the Salina Venom, losing 12-0. Weers got the loss with relief from Hays and Lee.

The Aftershock is now 9-12-1 this season and will play in the MOKAN state tournament this weekend in Basehor.
