The Manhattan Optimist 14-and-under Aftershock softball team made its summer debut recently in Clay Center.
The Aftershock lost to Salina Stealth, 10-0 in the first game. Makayla Tegtmeier took the loss with Olivia Lee behind the plate. Emily Brummett had the only hit.
The Salina Pink Panthers defeated the Aftershock in the second game 6-2. Jayden Weers pitched with Tegtmeier caught. Alyssa Sias and Lee each doubled. Ashley Faiola had two singles and Weers singled.
Clay Center won the third game, 11-4. Lee took the loss with Tegtmeier behind the plate. Haley Petty and Tegtmeier doubled. Kayla Marienau added two singles with Faiola, Brummett and Weers each adding a single.
In the final game Saturday, the Aftershock faced the Pink Panthers and again and lost, 6-3. Weers had the pitching duties with Lee behind the dish. Tegtmeier doubled with singles offered up by Faiola, Brummett, Weers and Lee.
Additional players for the Aftershock include Alee Buss, Alex Rogers and Michaela Hayes. This weekend they play in the Capital City Showdown in Topeka.
