The Manhattan Optimist Aftershock 14-and-under fastpitch softball made its debut in Salina at the April Thunder tournament last weekend at Salina South High School.
The first opponent, Pratt Green Thunder, defeated the Aftershock, 8-3. Olivia Lee took the loss in the circle.
The Aftershock notched their first victory of the season with an 8-7 win over Abilene Attack. Makayla Tegtmeier was the winning pitcher for the game.
Jayden Weers had a single and a double, while Tegtmeier helped her cause with a pair of singles. Cheyenne Brunkow added two singles as well, while Cassidy Cheevers, Maigan Powers and Alyssa Sias all recorded hits in the win.
In the final game, facing the Wichita Wombats, Jayden Weers started the game and took the 9-4 loss. Michaela Hays pitched very well in relief. Weers had two singles, Brunkow had a triple and a single. Emily Brummett, Tegtmeier, Ashley Faiola and Suzanna Gevock had singles in the game.
The Aftershock team is 1-2 for the season and will play in the Wamego Spring Spectacular this weekend.
