The Manhattan Optimist Aftershock took third in the rain-shortened “Bite Out of the Lil’ Apple” softball tournament this past weekend.
The Lawrence Stingrays won the first game, 9-3. Makayla Tegtmeier and Ashley Faiola handled the pitching duties with Olivia Lee catching. Singles by Jayden Weers, Faiola and Tia Wood were the only hits.
The Aftershock then faced the Netawaka Patriots and won the game 14-0. Weers was the winning pitcher with Faiola behind the plate. Maddie Rogers had two single and Faiola smashed a triple. Singles by Kali Crome, Grace Suther, Tegtmeier and Weers completed the offense.
The Salina Stealth won the next game, 7-0. Faiola took the loss with Weers pitching in relief and Tegtmeier was the catcher. Lee had the only hit.
The Aftershock are now 4-4 on the season and will play at Lake Shawnee next weekend.
