Red Cross officials are encouraging students and others to “bleed purple” at a K-State blood drive this week. The event started Tuesday on campus and continues through Friday.

Officials said they expected to collect about 800 units of blood during the drive.

“We always receive tremendous support from blood donors at the university, and we’re confident this year will be no different,” said Terri Dunaway, CEO of the Central Plains Blood Services Region.

Times and locations for donation are 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday at the K-State Student Union; 2:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday at Putnam Hall; and 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday at the union.
