A Geary County sheriff’s deputy was involved in the shooting of an armed man outside of a Junction City club early Sunday morning, officials said.
Geary County Undersheriff Tony Wolf said a disturbance broke out in the parking lot of Club Eve, 713 S. Washington St., at approximately 2 a.m. Sunday.
He said a man involved in the disturbance fled behind the club’s building, where sheriff deputies were monitoring the scene. Wolf said a deputy shot the man after he produced a firearm in an aggressive manner. The man was shot one time before he collapsed.
The Junction City Fire Department transported the man to Geary County Hospital where he was flown by LifeStar to Stormont Vail in Topeka with very serious injuries, Wolf said.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation was contacted to handle the investigation of the case.
