Antoinette Root has been named Riley County High School principal by USD 378 Supt. Brad Starnes.

Root’s selection was announced Tuesday. She will come to the school from 10 years as the transition coordinator and teacher for Reno County Youth Services and Hutchinson High School. She was also an adjunct instructor at Hutchinson Community College.

Starnes said Root’s “practical and varied experiences” made her the right fit for Riley County High School. She succeeds Eric Swanson as principal.

Starnes said 31 applicants were reduced to six candidates before Root was selected by a team of administrators and teacher leaders.
