The seventh grade Kansas Nets boys’ basketball team won the Topeka Hoops Classic Sunday with a 44-36 victory over the Topeka Thunder in the tournaments’ championship game. The win avenged a 17-point loss to the Thunder earlier in the tournament as the Nets captured their opening MAYB tournament of the season.

The Nets went 1-2 in pool play but ran the table in bracket play with a 51-26 win over the Topeka Ball Hoggs, and a comeback 47-44 victory over top-seeded Capital City Swish in the semifinals before taking down the Thunder in the finals.

Players are Nate Awbrey, Jackson Boyle, Chase Dillon, Carson Marsh and Martin Vogts of Manhattan; Jace West of Abilene; Jason Ebert and Justin Ebert of Wamego; and Xavier Cason of Junction City. The Nets are coached by Tommy Dillon and Keith Vogts.
