Mustangs sweep Cowgirls

The Rock Creek Mustangs defeated Abilene in a doubleheader on Tuesday by scores of 7-0 and 4-2.

It’s the first time the Mustangs have ever swept Abilene in the six-year history of the series.

In the first game, Katie Hodges struck out seven batters and was backed up by a solid defense that helped shutout the Cowgirls.

Bailey Elliott led offensively going 3-for-4 from the plate and three RBIs including a double. Six Mustangs singled on the night - Megan Srna, Caitlyn Larson, Hodges, Jessi Snapp, Kelsey Quinn, and Ashley McDaris.

The nightcap would finish the sweep of Abilene, as the Mustangs never trailed in the doubleheader.

Blair Campbell improved to 2-1 on the season with a win in game two from the circle. Campbell struck out two batters.

Bailey Elliott went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Srna went 2-for-4 with a leadoff double and an RBI.
