The Rock Creek softball team traveled to Wamego this past week, splitting a doubleheader with the Red Raiders.
In the opening game Thursday, the Mustangs belted out 22 hits, including 17 RBIs, to win 17-5.
Rock Creek exerted its will early with nine runs in the first three innings.
Brynn Hammett cracked out a three-run home run in the first to start off the night. Blair Campbell and Alexis Wilson each went 4 for 5.
Hammett went 3 for 5 with two doubles and the home run, collecting five RBIs. Kayla Boltz went 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs. Shannon Caffrey was 3 for 5 with three RBIs. Winter Henry was 2 for 3.
Seven Rock Creek hitters combined for 21 hits, 16 RBIs and 16 of the runs scored.
Campbell earned the win from the circle, allowing only seven hits, one earned run, with four strikeouts.
Rock Creek lost the second game, 10-5, in seven innings, despite outhitting Wamego 12-10.
Hammett capped her night going 3 for 3 with a two-run homer and three RBIs. Wilson was 3 for 4.
Rock Creek scored three in the top of the fifth to edge closer making the score 6-5, but the Mustangs weren’t able to close the gap beyond the fifth.
Campbell and Hammett shared the pitching duties, giving up seven earned runs.
Rock Creek plays at home against Abilene on Tuesday.
