The Rock Creek Mustangs jumped on St. Marys early and coasted to a 17-3 win in the opener of the doubleheader.
Eight runs in the first three innings allowed the Mustangs to put the game away early. Winter Henry doubled and tripled, Alexis Wilson doubled. Megan Srna and Lauren Overkamp each tripled in the game. Five Mustangs had two or more hits in the game. Blair Campbell got it done in the circle on the way to a win, allowing four runs on nine hits in five innings, with five strikeouts and no walks.
St. Marys couldn’t slow down Srna, who paced the Mustangs with a 5-for-5 effort in the second game — four singles and a triple.
The Mustangs’ third-inning rally sparked a seven-run offensive effort. Kayla Boltz and Overkamp each doubled in the game. Overkamp had four RBIs, while Abbie Plummer added three RBIs. Quinn was 3 for 4 in Game 2, while Boltz belted out three hits as well.
Henry got the win for the Mustangs in the second game, allowing three runs on five hits in five innings.
The Mustangs improved to 5-4 on the season, and 2-0 in the Mid-East League. Rock Creek will host Riley County next Tuesday and travel to Nemaha Valley on Friday.
