Mustangs lose district game

By The Mercury

At Nemaha Valley, Rock Creek scored just six points in the first half on Friday.

And it proved to be not enough.

Nemaha Valley scored one touchdown in the second half, and kept the Rock Creek offense from moving the ball in a 7-6 win that shook up the district with one game left.

Riley County secured its spot in the playoffs with a 49-23 win over Marysville, and Nemaha Valley’s win put Rock Creek’s back up against the wall with a game left.

If Riley County were to beat Rock Creek by 13 or more points this Thursday, and Nemaha Valley beats Marysville by 13 or more, the Mustangs could miss out on the Class 3A playoffs.
