The Rock Creek wrestling team traveled to Hays for the Class 3-2-1A state championships Thursday through Friday and came home with three individual medals.
Rock Creek started off by winning four out of the first five matches.
Junior Randall Thomas knocked off top-ranked Clint Rodgers in the 113-pound class and the rest of the Mustangs responded.
In the second round, the Mustangs had a bit of a set back and all four wrestlers still on the front side suffered losses.
All of the Mustangs wrestlers made it to the second day of competition. Again, Thomas started off the round with a pin, while sophomore Marc Reiss and seniors Sam Wilson and Trevor Sutton also scored wins for the Mustangs.
Reiss, Wilson, Trevor Sutton all got it done and moved on to the consolation semifinals, as Wilson finished fifth and Reiss and Sutton finished sixth.
Rock Creek finished 15th in the team scores.
