Music student earns degree from Berklee

Dalton Harts, son of Terry and Ann Harts of Manhattan, graduated magna cum laude May 10 from the Berklee College of Music, Boston, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in electronic production and design.

Berklee is the largest independent college of contemporary music in the world, and known as a foremost university for the study of jazz and modern American music.

To date, 100 Berklee alumni have received 239 Grammy awards.

At the graduation ceremony, former Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page delivered the commencement address to the 886 graduates who represented 66 countries.

Honorary doctorates were awarded to Page as well as Motown and R&B songwriter Valerie Simpson, jazz pianist and educator Geri Allen and American Music Program youth jazz orchestra founder Thara Memory.
