Muff, Taylor awarded postgraduate scholarships

The Big 12 announced the recipients of the 2012-13 Dr. Prentice Gautt Postgraduate Scholarships last week with 20 Big 12 student-athletes again receiving the honor.

This year’s recipients from K-State are volleyball player Alex Muff and track and field member David Taylor.

Muff is one of the top middle blockers in K-State history and was named All-Big 12 honorable mention this season and earned Academic All-Big 12 First Team all three years she was eligible.

Taylor is a pole vaulter on the track and field team and was named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team this year.

The scholarships are named in honor of the late Dr. Prentice Gautt, a former Big 12 staff member and student services’ pioneer who passed away in March 2005. The list of all-time recipients has grown to 313 since the inception of the league in 1996-97. Starting in 2002-03, additional funding increased scholarship award winners to two per member institution.
