Moxie opens with sweep of Clay Center

The Manhattan Optimist Moxie 18-and-under softball team opened this weekend with a pair of wins against Clay Center. 

In the first game, the Moxie had 14 hits, including three doubles. Multiple hit games came from Blair Campbell with two singles, Brynn Hammett with a single and double, Alexis Wilson with three singles, Linsey Kramer with a single and a double and Mariah Kinderknecht with two singles.

Blair Campbell earned the 7-3 win, allowing nine hits through seven innings of work. 

In the second game, the Moxie had 15 hits, with five doubles from Abbie Plummer, Campbell, Shannon Caffrey and two doubles from Kramer.

Hammett went 3 for 4 in Game 2 and also pitched for the win, with four strikeouts, allowing six hits. Caffrey closed the game from the circle striking out two.
