Motorcyclist injured avoiding pedestrian

By Katherine Wartell

A motorcyclist was transported to Mercy Regional Health Center after he crashed his vehicle when avoiding a pedestrian at the intersection of College and Kimball avenues Monday afternoon.

Lt. Josh Kyle said that Daniel Hooten, 24, Wamego, was driving his 2007 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle through a green light at the intersection when Taylor Wadian, 27, Manhattan, walked out in front of him, causing Hooten to crash his motorcycle.

Riley County EMS transported Hooten for unknown injuries, and Kyle said that officers cited Wadian, who was uninjured, for jaywalking.
