Molt wins ‘gold plate’

Mary Molt, assistant director of Housing and Dining Services at Kansas State, received the Gold Plate Award at the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association (IFMA) Gold & Silver Plate Awards Celebration this week in Chicago.

The Gold & Silver Plate Awards, often called “the Academy Awards of food service,” have been recognized as the most coveted operator awards in the food service industry since their creation in 1954.

Molt and eight other operator executives, each representing a different segment of food service operations, received the IFMA Silver Plate Award in February to become eligible for the Gold Plate.

She was only the second K-State recipient of the Silver Plate Award in the association’s 58-year history – the first was John Pence – and the first K-State Gold Plate winner.

Molt is also only the third College and University Silver Plate winner to be awarded the top honor in 58 years. She has worked in Housing and Dining Services for 34 years.
