Miss Kansas to collect items for military families Wednesday

By The Mercury

Theresa Vail, in one of her final acts as Miss Kansas, will return Wednesday to Manhattan to continue her support of military families through the USO.

Partnering with Kieu’s, a women’s fashion store located at 431 Poyntz., Miss Kansas will make an in-store appearance from 3 to 7 p.m. to collect items and donations needed to help soldiers returning from overseas.

Kieu’s and Miss Kansas will support the USO by gathering personal care items to be included in welcome home packages for local veterans.

Customers are encouraged to bring items such as shampoo, body wash, deodorant, toothpaste and non-perishable snacks. Items that are in particularly high demand include bath towels, washcloths and individually wrapped toothbrushes.

Anyone who brings in an item to donate will receive $5 off of the purchase of Kieu’s merchandise.
