Midwest Stix win Great Bend tourney

The Midwest Stix 14-and-under baseball team participated in the Great Bend NBC tournament this past weekend.

In Pool play on Saturday, the Stix defeated the Lawrence Knights 15-0 and the Garden City Royals 9-1.

In bracket play on Sunday, the Stix won 18-2 over Haven to advance to the championship game.

In that game, the Stix beat the Hays Braves 15-7 to win the tournament.

The Stix are now 9-2 on the season heading into the 60-team Oklahoma Shootout in Tulsa on May 9.

Team members include Chase Brown, Talon Claussen, Cade Creed, Dalton Engle, Thomas Gevock, Tyler Halstead, Jalin Harper, Ethan Kaus, Carson Marsh, Ty Nelson, Easton Rindt and Cooper Schroeder. The Stix are coached by Shane Sieben, Jon Harper, Rick Schroeder and Kenny Talley.
