MHS soccer team runner-up at state

JUNCTION CITY—The Manhattan High boys’ soccer team’s season came to an end in Saturday’s Class 6A state soccer championship game, with the Indians dropping a tough match to Blue Valley Northwest, 2-0.

The Indians struggled to get many scoring chances against the Huskies, while BVNW put away a goal in each half to earn the title.

Austin Flores got the Huskies on the board first, putting away a goal after multiple chances as Alex Richt frantically tried to grab the ball inside the goal.

Blue Valley Northwest scored its second goal at the beginning of the second period, getting a nice shot by Trevor Kerns past Richt to take a two-goal lead.

Manhattan finishes the year 16-4-1.
