MHS JV wrestlers take first

The Manhattan High JV wrestling team took two teams out west to Lincoln this past week for a high school tournament among smaller schools, with the first team winning handily and the second team taking fourth.

Manhattan’s first team won with 197 team points, with Lincoln taking second with 125.5. Stafford finished third with 90 points, while Manhattan’s second team took 72 points. Stockton (64.5), St. John’s Military (31.5) and Osborne (30) rounded out the field.

The top Manhattan team had six wrestlers take first in the tournament, including Alex Martinez (106), Jadon Bloomdahl (120), Jacob Ashmore (126), Blake Wewer (132), Daniel Izquierdo (145) and Kurtis Rich (170). Sean Van Natta (113), Iverson Robb (138), Brian Coughlin (152), Max Dandaneau (182) and Florian Theisen (285) all took second.

Among the second team placers were Sharmai Mitchell (120, 2nd), Sean Murphy (120, 3rd), Chance Henderson (126, 2nd), Dalton Juenemann (126, 4th), Ethan Hemmert (132, 3rd), Alex Rodriguez (132, 4th), Michael Pernice (138, 3rd), Christian Fleury (152, 3rd), Nick Huser (160, 3rd), J.C. Izquierdo (170, 3rd) and Eric Boudreaux (195, 4th).
