The Manhattan High boys’ golf team got a glimpse of the postseason golf landscape and fared well on Wednesday afternoon in Lawrence, taking third place with a 308 team score.
The Indians finished behind Washburn Rural, which shot a 296, and Shawnee Mission East, which shot a 305.
Individually, Cole Dillon shot a 72 to tie for third place, while Scott Woods and David Woods each finished tied for 13th place with a 77. Drew Casper shot an 82 to round out the team score, with Dylan Gros shooting an 83 and Pierson McAtee an 84.
Facing a host of Class 6A and 5A title hopefuls, the Indians performed well at Lawrence’s Alvamar Golf Club, finishing behind two other top 6A schools in their final tuneup before regional golf on Monday in Derby. Should they advance, state golf would be the following week on May 27 at the Topeka Country Club, a familiar course for the Indians.
Monday’s regional round is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Derby County Club and will include Derby, Junction City, Topeka High, Washburn Rural, Wichita East and Wichita Southeast.
