MHS girls ease past Shawnee Heights

By Grant Guggisberg

The Manhattan High girls’ basketball team stayed unbeaten in Centennial League play with a 43-31 win over Shawnee Heights on the road Friday night.

Shawnee Heights cut the Manhattan lead to six midway through the third quarter but couldn’t sustain the momentum into the fourth, despite Manhattan missing an unusual amount of free throws down the stretch. Manhattan led by as many as 17 before the T-Birds cut into the lead by taking advantage of some turnovers and knocking down tough shots while the Indians missed from the charity stripe. They finished the quarter 6 of 12.

Darby Price led the Indians with 22 points and 10 rebounds, finishing the night 7 of 9 from the floor.

Manhattan hosts Junction City on Tuesday night.
