The Manhattan High girls’ basketball team took a 20-point lead to halftime and held on against Hayden’s multiple rally attempts to win 49-37 Tuesday night and stay undefeated in Centennial League play.
With a showdown looming against fellow undefeated league opponent Seaman on Friday, the Indians held up their end of the deal, getting past a scrappy Hayden team that once again gave Manhattan fits with regard to turnovers.
The Indians finished the night with 24 turnovers, 14 of which came in the second half when Hayden was rallying.
Manhattan led 28-8 to halftime after a dominant first half on the defensive side of the ball.
Darby Price led the Indians with 14 points, while Caroline Ballard finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Hayden was led by Jordan Lenherr’s 16 points.
Seaman beat Rural 46-28 to set up Friday’s de facto league championship game.
