MHS boys rout Rural, 76-55

The Manhattan High boys’ basketball team got its long week off to a good start with a 76-55 drubbing of Washburn Rural Monday night.

Gabe Awbrey and Pierson McAtee each scored 16 points for the Indinas, with Darian Taylor adding a career-high 15 points in a game that was never close after the first quarter.

Manhattan (10-4, 6-2 Centennial) outscored Rural 16-4 in the second quarter and only added to its lead in the second half to win comfortably.

Washburn Rural (3-11, 2-7) had just one player scoring in double figures, with Blake Peterson pouring in 20.

Manhattan hosts Topeka West Tuesday night in another Centennial League tilt.
