MHS boys look to rebound at Shawnee Heights

By Joel Jellison

Manhattan High boys’ basketball coach Tim Brooks said his team would do one of two things after Tuesday’s 75-40 home loss to Emporia — lay down or come back fighting.

Brooks said his team was kicked hard on Tuesday, allowing the Spartans to rack up 30 points in the second quarter and lead by 30 points at halftime on the way to Emporia’s convincing win.

The Indians will look to make a rebound on Friday when they take to the road to face Shawnee Heights in Tecumseh.

Manhattan (2-2) went into the break with back-to-back wins over Great Bend and Junction City, and appeared to have built up some momentum. But the Indians came out of the break more than flat, as Brooks said they struggled with just about everything.
