The Manhattan High boys’ golf team opened its season by defending its team title at the Salina Central Invitational at Salina’s Municipal Golf Course.

The Indians managed to edge Seaman in what quickly turned into a two-team race, shooting a 298. The Vikings took second with a 306, while the two teams combined to take each of the top-seven medals.

Pierson McAtee took home medalist honors, shooting a 1-over 71, despite bogeying his final two holes. Scott Woods finished in third place with a 73, while Drew Casper and David Woods each shot a 77 to tie for fifth. Cole Dillon shot an 81 and Dylan Gros finished with an 83 to round out the team’s scoring.

The Indians are back in action next week at their own tournament, hosting the Manhattan Invitational on Monday at the Manhattan Country Club, scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
