In its last tuneup before regional competition next week, the Manhattan High boys’ golf team took fifth as a team in a crowded field at Alvamar in Lawrence on Wednesday.
With 24 teams competing, Manhattan coach Brad Ficke was pleased with the way his team finished as it prepares for postseason golf.
“I was very happy with our 317 team score and finish overall,” Ficke said. “David had a steady day, and Scott had five birdies but unfortunately had a 9 as well.”
David Woods shot 76 and tied for 10th. Scott Woods finished with a 78, while Drew Casper shot an 80.
Pierson McAtee and Cole Dillon each shot an 83, and Dylan Gros finished with a 91.
Shawnee Mission East and Washburn Rural each had team scores of 297, with Blue Valley West shooting a 305 for third and Shawnee Mission Northwest with a 309 in fourth place.
Manhattan travels back to Junction Ciy for regional play at Rolling Meadows on Monday at 8:30 a.m.
