Men arrested for selling meat

By Katherine Wartell

Two Missouri men were arrested Monday for trying to sell meat from their truck without a Manhattan city permit.

Dominic Bartholomew, 24, Kansas City, Missouri, and Michael McCain, 28, Westport, Missouri, allegedly tried to sell meat to an off-duty police sergeant Monday afternoon in the 500 block of Wickham Road.

Lt. Josh Kyle said the men claimed to be employees of Steakhouse Steaks. He said they were driving through the neighborhood in a company 2003 silver Ford truck.

Since neither man has a local address, officers arrested them instead of citing them for soliciting without a permit.

Kyle said that it was subsequently discovered McCain was driving while suspended, for which he was also arrested.

Bartholomew was released from the Riley County Jail on $128 bond, while McCain was released on $1,050 bond.
