McGruder gets invite from Magic

By Joel Jellison

Former Kansas State guard Rodney McGruder might not have gotten drafted in Thursday’s NBA Draft, but he will get his chance to show off his skill set for the league.

McGruder was invited to the summer camp of the Orlando Magic on Friday, giving him the opportunity to play in the NBA Summer League in July.

Manhattan High alum Jackie Carmichael was reportedly invited to play for the Miami Heat, but it had not been officially announced at press time.

Former K-State forward Jordan Henriquez was also waiting to hear from teams this weekend.

If the players are not signed by teams at the end of summer camp, they are free to sign elsewhere.

All three would be likely targets for professional teams overseas.
