McCulloh won’t seek new term on county board

By The Mercury

Third district county commissioner Karen McCulloh said Tuesday she does not intend to seek re-election in November.

McCulloh, who was elected in 2008, cited time commitments, the demands of the job and her desire to spend more time with her 94-year-old mother in deciding not to file for re-election. The race has already attracted one Republican candidate, former mayor and city commissioner Dave Fiser, who filed Friday.

The third district seat is one of two to be filled in November. Also up is the term of second district commissioner Al Johnson, a Republican. To date no candidates have declared for that position, and Johnson has not indicated his intentions.
